My knowledge of the Spanish luxury brand Loewe isn't deep to say the least. Heck, two years ago, I couldn't even pronounce the word properly (Lo-ee-vay). I vaguely know of the change of creative directors over the past few years and that Stuart Vevers now has had two seasons under his belt at the brand. When I went to see the S/S 09 presentation at the beautiful Folies Berg?, I sort of bumbled into the not really knowing what was going on. What I was hit with was an onslaught of deets... deets that were magnified under bright spotlights and easier to pick out since all the clothes and accessories were on mannequins and guests were allowed to go right up close to them, touching things. Ignoring the Loewe origin or where Vevers' influences come from (70s' Loewe archives if you must know...), there was just a real mass of stuff going on to coo over...
Multiple shades of grey sequins shimmering around (I need to upgrade from my black sequin obsession...) // Delicately cut leaves layered into a fluttering fabric
Feather effects created from fabric that is cut up into shards...
Ruffled suede (my preferred form of suede...) hole punched // Crunchy nude ruching
The chunkiest rope belt that sits on top of the THICKEST grey patent (me thinks if I topped the skirt with my Toga jacket, I'd positively look like terrifying...)
Driving gloves that in neutral sahdes of thick croc...
You know I'm not a bag person but these jingle and jangle quite pleasingly...
Paint splatters on what is a classicly shaped bag...
The bag on the right is inlaid with lengths of fine chain...
Even simple lookiing clutches up close have interesting deets going on...
The glasses are pleasingly chunky and almost cartoonish in their shape without being too obnoxious..
The shoes also stunning feats in themselves combining admittedly Miu Miu-ish ruffles with gold spiral heels and a mix of textures and colours...
